Dr. Sierra Guynn joins veterinary college's production management medicine team
Dr. Sierra Guynn of Bastrop, Texas, has joined the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech as a clinical assistant professor of production management medicine in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences.
After completing a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the veterinary college in 2006, Guynn entered private clinical practice. She was an associate veterinarian at Link Veterinary Associates in Union Bridge, Md., and at Bastrop Veterinary Hospital in Bastrop, Texas.
“We are excited for Dr. Sierra Guynn to return to the college after her experience providing broad clinical and ambulatory services in a busy mixed private practice,” said Dr. David Hodgson, professor and head of the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences. “Dr. Guynn has a wealth of experience, not only in the clinical management of beef and dairy cattle, but also in medical and surgical diseases of small ruminants, camelids, horses, and small animals. I have no doubt given her experience and enthusiasm Sierra will make a substantial contribution to the core mission of food animal field services at the veterinary college.”
Guynn began her new position with the veterinary college on March 19. In addition to her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, Guynn also has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Long Island University in Southampton, N.Y., and a doctorate in biomedical sciences and comparative physiology from the Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Neb.
Guynn is a member of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, American Association of Equine Practitioners, Society for Theriogenology, and American Veterinary Medical Association.
