Jill Wells joins veterinary college as recruitment officer
Jill Wells of Christiansburg, Va., has joined the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech as a recruitment officer.
Wells previously served as the assistant director of undergraduate admissions at Virginia Tech, where she evaluated applications and made admissions decisions, conducted informational presentations to individuals and groups about the admissions process, and communicated with prospective students and their families. She began her new role with the veterinary college on Sept. 6.
“Jill has great experience working with high school students as they prepare for undergraduate programs. This is a key group that we target when encouraging individuals to consider careers within the veterinary profession and complete their professional training here at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine,” said Dr. Jacque Pelzer, director of admissions and student services for the veterinary college.
In her new role, Wells will help retain the pool of applicants from Virginia and Maryland and reach out-of-state students. She will also offer tours of the college facilities and promote the college to high school students interested in veterinary medicine. The college, which will see its incoming class size increase to 120 students next year, has begun recruiting for the Class of 2016.
Prior to coming to Virginia Tech, Wells worked on the admissions staff at Shenandoah University. There she began as an admissions recruiter and left as the associate director of admissions. Wells has a bachelor’s degree in finance from Virginia Tech.
