Virginia Tech seeks Upward Bound/Talent Search alums for reunion
Did you participate in Upward Bound/Talent Search at Virginia Tech? If so, you are invited to a reunion picnic in Blacksburg Aug. 13. Not only alums are invited, but also former staff members. The picnic will be at Blacksburg Caboose Park.
If you attended or worked for the Upward Bound and Talent Search Programs – or you know of someone who did – please send contact information (including name, address, phone, and e-mail) as soon as possible to Upward Bound/Talent Search, Hillcrest Hall, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA 24061. Information can also be submitted via e-mail or by calling Tom Wilson, director of Upward Bound, at (540) 231-6911.
“We’re looking forward to celebrating the success of our former Upward Bound and Talent Search kids who were drawn from across the state and now have successful careers throughout the nation,” Wilson said. “We’re casting a wide net to find everyone, including setting up a VT Upward Bound Alumni page on Facebook. Please contact us if you know of someone who should be included.”
Upward Bound and Talent Search at Virginia Tech are federally funded programs designed to assist high school students in making the transition from high school to college. Thousands of students in Southwest Virginia have benefited from the services of the program since its inception in 1967. Upward Bound has been at Virginia Tech since 1967; Talent Search since 1973.
