Inn at Virginia Tech gets new general manager
The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center has a new general manager.
Tom Shaver has been named to the role by Benchmark Hospitality International, the Houston-based company that took over management of the Virginia Tech property on Jan. 1. Shaver’s first day was March 14.
Ellen Sinclair, senior vice president for Benchmark Hospitality, made the announcement.
“I am delighted to welcome Tom to The Inn at Virginia Tech,” Sinclair said. “He brings 30 years of leadership experience in hotel and conference-center operations to his new role and is a wonderful addition to this remarkable property.”
Before joining Benchmark Hospitality, Shaver was director of lodging operations for Callaway Gardens Resort in Pine Mountain, Ga. Earlier in his career, he worked in senior leadership roles for major hospitality brands throughout the United States. Shaver attended the University of California, San Diego, and Mesa Junior College. He has served as chairman for several convention and visitors bureaus.
Benchmark Hospitality International brings three decades of experience operating properties within the Virginias. The company also manages Stonewall Resort near Weston, W.Va.; The Founders Inn and Spa in Virginia Beach, Va.; and Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, Va., near Washington, D.C.
