John Brozovsky appointed Wayne E. Leininger Junior Faculty Fellow
John Brozovsky, associate professor of accounting and information systems in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, has been appointed the Wayne E. Leininger Junior Faculty Fellow by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.
The Wayne E. Leininger Junior Faculty Fellowship in Accounting and Information Systems was established by friends of Wayne E. Leininger to honor the former faculty member who served the Department of Accounting and Information Systems from 1971 until his retirement in 2003. The fellowship recognizes excellence in teaching and scholarship. Recipients hold the fellowship for a period of three years.
A member of the Pamplin College of Business faculty since 1989, Brozovsky has made numerous presentations on international financial reporting standards, including at meetings sponsored by the American Accounting Association, Fox School of Business at Temple University, the Port Authorities of North America, Illinois CPA Society, and the Georgia Society of CPAs. He has published 32 peer-reviewed journal articles, seven other articles, one book, and two book chapters.
In the most recent visit by the peer review team of AACSB International (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), the Department of Accounting and Information Systems was specifically recognized for its leadership in preparing its students to work in a changing financial reporting environment, an area to which Brozovsky has made significant contributions.
He has served as a reader on 12 dissertation committees and has chaired three others. He is the primary advisor to more than 500 undergraduate junior and senior accounting and information systems majors as well as 90 master’s students.
Brozovsky received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Texas and a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado.
