Schiffert Health Center has scheduled the following student vaccine clinics for the seasonal flu through Intravene, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 27 through Wednesday, Dec. 2. Vaccines for the novel H1N1 flu virus will also be offered if they are available at the time of each clinic.

Intravene Travel Clinic has canceled the faculty, staff, and student flu vaccination clinic scheduled for Monday, Nov. 16 at the McComas Gym because the H1N1 vaccine is not available.

In addition, the clinic scheduled for Wedensday, Dec. 2 will only be held if the H1N1 vaccine is available. Future announcements will be posted to Virginia Tech News.

Nov. 2 update: The immunization clinic scheduled for Monday, Nov. 16 will be offered only in the event that the H1N1 vaccine is available at that time. If the H1N1 vaccine is available, the immunization clinic will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the McComas Hall Gymnasium and will be open to Virginia Tech students, faculty, and staff only. No appointments are necessary, and payments should be made by cash, check, or credit card at the time of the clinic. For more information, visit the university's Flu Information website.

Oct. 26 update: The H1N1 vaccine will not be available for the Oct. 27 clinic. The seasonal flu shot will still be available. Health officials say they hope to have enough in stock to be able to provide it at the next student vaccine clinic on Nov. 16.

For more information, please visit the university's Flu Information website, or contact the Schiffert Health Center at (540) 231-5313 or healthcenter@vt.edu.

Oct. 5 update: Students insured through the school Sponsored Health Insurance Plan (GM-Southwest Inc.) have coverage for the seasonal flu vaccine. In addition to coverage for the seasonal flu vaccine, GM-Southwest Inc., will provide coverage for the H1N1 vaccine.

Schiffert Health Center has scheduled student vaccine clinics listed below.

Virginia Tech students insured through GM-Southwest Inc., are encouraged to participate in these clinics. Through a special arrangement between GM-Southwest Inc. and Intravene, students who receive the flu vaccines will not incur out-of-pocket expenses. Insured students will need to present their Student Insurance ID Card to receive this benefit. Intravene will bill GM-Southwest Inc. No Claim filing will be necessary.

If you covered by this provider, but are unable to attend one of the clinics, the flu vaccine(s) can be obtained from any provider. A claim must be filed in this situation.

Students who have medical insurance with other providers (such as coverage under a parent policy) will be asked to pay up front and a statement will be given to the student to faciliate reimbursement from their insurance company.

  • Monday, Nov. 16: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., McComas Hall Gym
