Open forums set for finalists for College of Engineering dean
The search committee for the next dean of Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering invites the university community to participate in virtual and in-person open forum sessions for the four finalists who will visit the Blacksburg campus in March.
The dean’s responsibilities include executive leadership of the college and managing distinctive programs in the context of a large, complex institution. This leader also has financial and administrative management responsibility for the college, guides and oversees its annual operating budget, advocates to the central administration for investment in new initiatives, leads its fundraising efforts, and provides effective leadership for the college’s faculty and administrative staff.
The new dean of the College of Engineering will replace Julie Ross, who left the position to serve as Virginia Tech’s executive vice president and provost.
Mario Ferruzzi, dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and search committee chair, invites stakeholders to meet finalists during the open forum sessions. Questions may be submitted during the discussions and feedback on candidates can be shared with the search committee following each forum.
The open forums are:
- Candidate No. 1: March 19, 3:30-4:30 p.m., Holtzman Alumni Center's Assembly Hall or Zoom
- Candidate No. 2: March 23, 3:30-4:30 p.m., Holtzman Alumni Center's Assembly Hall or Zoom
- Candidate No. 3: March 26, 3:30-4:30 p.m., Holtzman Alumni Center's Assembly Hall or Zoom
- Candidate No. 4: March 30, 3:30-4:30 p.m., Holtzman Alumni Center's Assembly Hall or Zoom
Candidate CVs and bios and the Zoom links will be posted to the Senior Administrator Search Information webpage within 48 hours of each session. A reception will follow each open forum from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Holtzman Alumni Hall entrance.
