The new dean will replace Paul Winistorfer, who announced his retirement effective fall 2025 after 16 years of leadership and service to the college and Virginia Tech.
Espinoza will continue to lead a division that promotes collaborative partnerships to achieve university goals by attracting, enrolling and graduating a talented and diverse undergraduate student body for Virginia Tech.
The dean will lead the college's efforts for shaping the future of agriculture and life science and the land-grant mission of Virginia Tech, in all its diverse teaching, research, Extension, development, international, and service and outreach activities.
The committee's work will help Virginia Tech determine how best to fulfill its institutional commitments and address the growing need for talent in Virginia and across the nation.
