Michaela Yvette Bogon, a sophomore in the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech, passed away on Monday, June 9. She was 19 years old.

A resident of Collingswood, New Jersey, Bogon was pursuing a degree in engineering. Beyond her academic pursuits, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, building Legos, watching Hokie softball and Phillies baseball, and caring for her beloved Boston terrier, Violet. She was known for her love of sneakers, bucket hats, and her favorite comfort foods.

Bogon was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in December 2022. Her family shared that throughout her treatment, she demonstrated extraordinary courage and grace, embracing each day with optimism and strength. Her personal motto, “resiliency is my superpower,” reflected the spirit with which she approached life and inspired those around her.

Bogon is survived by her parents, brothers, and many other family members and friends who will continue to honor her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Michaela Bogon Memorial Fund. Memories and words of comfort may be left at My Memories of Michaela webpage.
