The moment I knew I wanted to be a veterinarian/public health professional was…
There wasn’t a particular moment in time when I knew. Like most, it had been a dream of mine since I was little. I was fortunate to work as a veterinary assistant in private practice, which solidified my goal of becoming a veterinarian. During high school/undergrad I was told I needed to come up with a Plan B. I spent countless hours trying to find something else that I’d enjoy. Ultimately, there wasn’t going to be a Plan B. The more I learned about the veterinary field, the more my passion for it continued to grow.
A person who has inspired me...
My family, coworkers who have become like family, and the veterinarians I’ve had the pleasure of working with. It truly takes a village and each of them have inspired me in more than one way.
Biggest misconception about being a veterinarian/public health student…
That you have to study 24/7 to be successful. There is a lot of studying involved, but there are so many other ways to learn and gain hands on experience.
