Search committee for vice president for marketing and communications announced

Virginia Tech has formed the search committee tasked with recruiting the next vice president for marketing and communications.
Reporting jointly to the president and senior vice president for advancement, the vice president for marketing and communications is a strategic leadership role responsible for developing and executing comprehensive marketing and communication strategies to strengthen and enhance the university’s brand, drive growth and institutional visibility, and achieve the university’s top priorities.
In addition to overseeing university communication strategies, this role will focus on marketing initiatives, leveraging data-driven insights, and innovative approaches to maximize institutional positioning, brand management, and reputation management.
The new vice president will fill the position previously held by Tracy Vosburgh, who retired in summer 2024, and held in the interim by Mark Owczarski.
Saonee Sarker, dean of Pamplin College of Business, chairs the search committee, whose members are:
- David Baker, assistant vice president and chief of staff, Innovation Campus
- Juan Espinoza, vice provost of enrollment management
- Frances Keene, vice president for student affairs
- Annie McCallum, director of advancement communications
- Keith Stemple, president, Alumni Association Board of Directors
- Brandy Salmon, associate vice president for innovation and partnerships
- Chelsea Seeber, director of communication and marketing, College of Engineering
- Mary Trigiani, chief strategy officer and director of external relations
- Brad Wurthman, senior associate athletics director, external operations
The search committee will be supported by a staff that includes Lisa Wilkes, vice president for strategic initiatives and special assistant to the president, and Eleanor Webster, deputy to the vice president for strategic initiatives and special assistant to the president.
