Cintia Easterwood honored with emerita status
Cintia Easterwood, collegiate assistant professor of accounting and information systems in the Pamplin College of Business, has been conferred the title of collegiate assistant professor emerita by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.
The emerita title may be conferred on retired faculty members who are specially recommended to the board by Virginia Tech President Tim Sands in recognition of exemplary service to the university. Nominated individuals who are approved by the board receive a copy of the resolution and a certificate of appreciation.
A member of the Virginia Tech community for more than 30 years, Easterwood has dedicated many years of service as a volunteer faculty advisor for the National Association of Black Accountants. Easterwood has coordinated and taught extra certified public accountant review courses for many years to support and assist students. In addition, she served as coordinator for numerous years for all sections of Principles of Accounting courses.
Throughout her career, Easterwood taught and lectured in many different undergraduate and graduate courses. She supervised graduate students teaching Principles of Accounting courses. Easterwood also published articles in academic related journals, served on dissertation committees, and made presentations at academic meetings.
Easterwood received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Houston.
