David Brinberg, the Kathleen Grega Digges Professor of Marketing in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, has been conferred the title of professor emeritus by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.

A member of the Virginia Tech community for more than 31 years, Brinberg made significant contributions through his research on decision-making, research methodology, and social issues. He founded the Linking Lives, Lugano, study abroad program in spring 2002 and continues to direct this program. 

Brinberg contributed to the creation of the Sloan Foundation Forest Industry Center to support research and graduate student education and developed service-learning experiences in developing countries for undergraduate students. In the classroom, he taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses and developed a study abroad curriculum with a strong emphasis on professional and personal growth. 

Throughout his career, Brinberg advised numerous students on their master’s and doctoral dissertations and helped them develop successful careers in both academic and industrial settings. He provided many years of distinguished contributions to the department, college, and university through his dedicated service on numerous committees.

Brinberg received his bachelor’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He received both his master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.
