Three Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alumni were selected as the Hokie Heroes for Saturday’s football game against Duke. 

U.S. Space Force Capt. Brandon Donahue, a 2019 corps graduate, earned his degree in management from the Pamplin School of Business. U.S. Air Force 1st Lt. Mame Ngom graduated from the corps and earned her degree in political science from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences in 2021, and U.S. Space Force 1st Lt. Melonie Herndon earned her degree in human nutrition, food and exercise from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and graduated from the corps in 2021.

The Hokie Hero program honors corps alumni who are deployed. Recipients are highlighted by Bill Roth and Mike Burnop during their radio broadcast of Hokie football games, on the Corps of Cadets website, and in the Corps Review alumni magazine.

The three Hokie Heroes are deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Prosperity Guardian, Operation Inherent Resolve, and Operation Spartan Shield. While in the Corps, Donahue was a member of Alpha Company and served as the cadet commander for Air Force Special Operations Preparations Team. Ngom was a member of Lima Company and served as the regimental commander during the fall 2020 semester, while Herndon was a member of Delta Company and served as the 2020 fall semester regimental supply officer.
