When did you join the veterinary college?
I joined VMCVM in January of this year (still pretty new) after graduating with my bachelor's degree in cinema at Virginia Tech in December of 2023!
What is your role at the veterinary college?
I am the Content Specialist for the Communications team. (For brevity, I just say photographer :P)
The best part of being at VMCVM...
All the things I've learned!! I always say I am not a science person, but I have really enjoyed learning so much about vet med that I never would've thought about (like horses can't vomit???)
Best advice I've gotten...
Always hit Command S when working on a project!!! One of my mentors in undergrad told me this and it has become a force of habit. It has saved me a lot of heartache when Adobe Premiere Pro decides to crash out of nowhere!
My hidden talent...
I am really good at recognizing actors and voice actors from movies/tv shows and remembering what else I've seen them in, I'm like a human IMDB
A person who has inspired me...
Real answer: my mom and my nana, they inspire me daily and remind me I can do anything I set my mind to.
Silly answer: Garfield, because I also hate Mondays.
Can you share a memorable experience or story from your time working with animals?
One of the first projects I got to work on was with Flori Bliss in rehab on a beagle who had been having trouble walking. His owner considered putting him down because of his issues, but because of his time with Flori and rehabilitation, he was able to walk again. That has stuck with me ever since!
What do you find most inspiring or fulfilling about working with students and helping them pursue their careers?
I really enjoy talking with students and getting to know them more outside of being a student! Since we're pretty close in age, I feel like I can be a bit easier to talk to and interact with, so it's fun to chat with them about their lives outside of vet school!
If I had a superpower, it would be...
Teleportation or flying, do you know how much money I'd save on gas??
Favorite way to end the day...
I usually end my day with an evening walk with my dog and playing games with my friends online or reading a good book before bed!
Top of my bucket list...
Going to Ireland!! It's so beautiful and I'd love to take photos there!.

How many pets/animals live at home? I have one dog, his name is Axel and he is a dachshund mix! He is almost 8 years old (his birthday is September 30th!) He is a spunky little boy, except when he's meeting new people. He can be incredibly awkward LOL. Despite this, he is very loving and is my best friend!
