Deepak Bhatnagar has been named to the newly created position of enterprise architect.

Reporting to Kyle Johnson, the associate vice president for IT governance, planning, and strategy, Bhatnagar will play a key role in developing and implementing the university’s IT strategy.

Bhatnagar brings over 20 years of experience in IT strategy development, enterprise architecture, and technology governance. His career has spanned the private and public sectors, where he has consistently demonstrated his ability to align IT initiatives with business objectives to drive digital transformation.

At Virginia Tech, Bhatnagar will be responsible for crafting an IT strategy and road map designed to support the university’s strategic goals. His expertise in business and enterprise architecture will guide the development and lifecycle management of digital products and IT solutions to enhance operational excellence and promote innovation across the university’s colleges, institutes, and administrative areas.

"His experience and strategic vision will help ensure that the university’s IT infrastructure is robust, agile, and responsive to the evolving needs of the university community."

Bhatnagar holds a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Hyderabad and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Calcutta. He also completed several leadership and business administration certifications, including a Certificate in Smart Cities from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Certificate in Business Administration from Georgetown University.
