A Hokie Passport account has uses that extend beyond just laundry and printing services. The Hokie Passport account can be accessed with your Hokie Passport ID card. It is different from Dining Dollars and Flex Additions, which are used at Virginia Tech dining centers.

The Hokie Passport account functions as a debit spending account enabling students, faculty, and staff to use deposited funds at select merchant locations. Funds deposited on Hokie Passport accounts roll over on a semester basis and are available for use until graduation or formal separation from the university.

Funds deposited to a Hokie Passport account may be used at many merchant locations. For a comprehensive list, visit the Hokie Passport Merchant Categories webpage to learn more about the Hokie Passport uses. Here are a few:

  • On-campus fun: Gather a group of friends for an outing to Breakzone in Squires Student Center. Enjoy activities like bowling, pool, darts, and more.
  • Exercise: With your Hokie Passport, exercise for free at McCommas Gym and the recently renovated War Memorial Gym.
  • Coffee on campus: In need of a quick refresher while studying at Newman Library? Check out Space Rabbit Coffee in the first-floor lobby. Space Rabbit offers a variety of coffees, smoothies, and frozen beverages.
  • Groceries galore: Shop for groceries at Food Lion at the locations on North Main Street and Heathwood Avenue and Kroger at South Main Street and University City Boulevard.
  • Restaurants: Use your Hokie Passport account at a number of fast-food and sitdown restaurants in Blacksburg. From wings to warm cookies, students have lots of options to satisfy any craving.
  •  Vending machines: Select vending machines across the Virginia Tech campus accept the Hokie Passport account as a form of payment.
  • Schiffert Health Center: Feeling unwell? Make an appointment at Virginia Tech’s on-campus health center in McCommas Hall. Visits are included with the student health fee — paid for in yearly tuition charges — but specific services, such as prospective medication, immunizations, and select laboratory testing, have additional costs. However, student’s Hokie Passport funds can be used to pay for these services.
  • Pharmacy: Pay for prescriptions at CVS Pharmacy's South Main Street and University City Boulevard locations and Kroger Pharmacy's South Main Street and University City Boulevard locations.
  • University Bookstore: Use your Hokie Passport Account to cover the cost of textbooks, rentals, and supplies at the University Bookstore.
