Renée Elise Goldsberry, a Tony and Grammy award-winning actress and singer who has delivered unforgettable performances on both the stage and screen, opens the Moss Arts Center 2024-25 season on Friday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m. Joined by a band and background vocalists, Goldsberry presents an evening of Broadway hits and American songbook classics.

Goldsberry won a Tony and a Grammy for originating the role of Angelica Schuyler in the groundbreaking Broadway phenomenon “Hamilton” and earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for Disney+’s filmed version of the musical. She currently stars in Tina Fey’s Netflix sitcom, “Girls5Eva,” receiving Critics Choice and Television Critics Association award nominations for her performance as Wickie Roy.

A Broadway veteran, her memorable stage work includes seminal musicals such as “Rent,” “The Color Purple,” “The Lion King,” “Dreamgirls,” and the play “Good People” opposite Frances McDormand, among countless others.

Her screen credits include the title role in “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” starring Oprah Winfrey, CBS’s “The Good Wife,” the independent feature “Waves,” and two Daytime Emmy nominations for work on “One Life to Live.

“Satisfied, a documentary about her life executive produced by Steven Spielberg for Amblin Entertainment, premiered in June at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival. Still to come in 2024, Goldsberry will release an album of new music that showcases her talents as both a songwriter and recording artist.

Inspired audience members can unleash their inner Broadway star with “Karaoke in the Cube” immediately following the performance. Sing along to the biggest hits from Broadway favorites such as “Wicked,” “Hamilton,” and “Les Misérables.” Seasoned performers, casual singers, and curious spectators are welcome. The event is held in the Moss Arts Center’s Cube from 9-11 p.m. Drinks will be available for purchase. “Karaoke in the Cube” is free, but registration is required.

Tickets for the performance are $40-$85 for general audience and $10 for students and youth 18 and under. Tickets can be purchased online; at the Moss Arts Center's box office, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; or by calling 540-231-5300 during box office hours.
