Anthony Colaianne, associate professor of English in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech, has been conferred the title of associate professor emeritus by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.

The emeritus title may be conferred on retired faculty members who are specially recommended to the board by Virginia Tech President Tim Sands in recognition of exemplary service to the university. Nominated individuals who are approved by the board receive a copy of the resolution and a certificate of appreciation.

He also was the recipient of three certificates of teaching excellence, and received the university’s Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2004.

During his time at Virginia Tech, Colaianne served several terms in the faculty senate and was associate chair and director of advising in the Department of English. Also, he was acting director of the Humanities Program.
