Christophe Larroque has been named the inaugural associate vice president for advancement at the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus, effective Feb. 1.

In this role, Larroque will be responsible for building and leading an advancement program to maximize support and exposure of the Innovation Campus by overseeing an integrated development, engagement, and communications program. He will work alongside Lance Collins, vice president and executive director, to create and implement an advancement strategy that makes connections and fosters partnerships with existing and emerging stakeholders and prospects to raise the profile of the campus and drive philanthropic support for its research and academic programs.

“Christophe has an impressive record of securing private philanthropic support and producing targeted engagement opportunities for major institutions,” said Charlie Phlegar, Virginia Tech’s senior vice president for advancement. “A key goal for the Innovation Campus is to become the most diverse graduate technology campus in the nation, and Christophe will play a critical role in realizing this goal through philanthropic support. There is no doubt that he will usher in a new era of achievement and impact.”

Larroque is well positioned for this role with over two decades of experience raising funds from philanthropists and foundations, the corporate sector, and governmental organizations. Prior to joining Virginia Tech, he launched Boston Children’s Hospital’s principal and major gifts program in the New York metro region. He also led Weill Cornell Medicine’s fundraising efforts for institutional priorities in the fields of brain health and education. He launched major gift fundraising programs at the Fondation Université de Strasbourg and the Fondation Valentin Haüy in Paris, engaging with high-net-worth individuals, local and multinational corporations, and grant-making foundations.

As an associate vice president for advancement, Larroque reports jointly to Collins and to Phlegar.

“Christophe’s breadth of experience and success in philanthropy makes him an ideal complement to our growing team,” Collins said. “We are thrilled to welcome Christophe to the Innovation Campus and look forward to working with him to better engage with partners and alumni in the region.”

A dual French-American national, Larroque earned his bachelor’s degree in the history and philosophy of science from Stanford University, and an MBA from INSEAD. He has served on alumni boards for both of his alma maters.
