Alexandra Pirkle has been named director of communications and marketing for the Virginia Tech Office for Inclusion and Diversity, effective Jan. 10.

In this role, Pirkle leads the planning and execution of a comprehensive communications and marketing plan for the office that aligns with universitywide strategic goals and initiatives.

“Alexandra brings an impressive breadth of experience in marketing and communications related to diversity and inclusion,” said Ellington Graves, interim senior associate vice provost for inclusion and diversity at Virginia Tech. “That range of activity is a great fit for our needs, making us confident that they will effectively tell the story of the variety of endeavors taking place in the Office for Inclusion and Diversity and elsewhere within the university. I also believe that Alexandra brings passion for the work that will make them a wonderful partner to our team.”

Prior to joining Virginia Tech, they were the communications manager for the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the University of Texas at Dallas, where they implemented marketing campaigns across a variety of platforms and helped identify effective strategies to increase belonging and accessibility across campus communications. They hold a master’s and bachelor’s degree in English, both from Texas A&M University – Commerce.
