U.S. Navy Lt. Kyle Luchau, Lt. j.g. Roger Gerome Maisog, and Lt. j.g. Robert McGroarty were selected as the Hokie Heroes for Saturday's Homecoming football game against Wake Forest.

The Hokie Hero program honors corps alumni who are deployed. Recipients are highlighted by Bill Roth and Mike Burnop during their radio broadcast of Hokie football games, on the Corps of Cadets website, and in the Corps Review alumni magazine.

Luchau graduated from the Corps of Cadets and earned his degree in psychology from the College of Science in 2018. While in the corps, Luchau was a member of Charlie Company.

A 2021 corps graduate, Maisog earned his degree in theatre arts, now part of the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design, in 2021. As a cadet, Maisog was a member of the regimental band, the Highty-Tighties.

McGroarty was also a member of the Highty-Tighties and graduated from the Corps of Cadets in 2020. He earned his degree in clinical neuroscience from the College of Science in 2020.

All three are deployed onboard the guided missile cruiser USS Normandy in the eastern Mediterranean Sea to help provide deterrence and ensure maritime security and stability in the region.
