Jennifer Thompson Price, application processor with the new student processing team in Undergraduate Admissions, passed away on July 27, 2021.

She began working in Undergraduate Admissions in September 2008.

“I had the pleasure of supervising Jenni for many years,” said Pam McAlexander, data integrity manager/processing team supervisor for Undergraduate Admissions. “She was a great employee. She worked with our transfer students, entering applications, transcripts, etc. She worked closely with the registrar’s office, tracking down transcripts. She stayed on top of everything and was always willing to help others when needed.”

Price was born in Marion, Virginia, on May 16, 1973.  She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Kenneth Thompson; her paternal grandmother, Rose Morton Thompson; her maternal grandfather, Napolean Bolling; her maternal grandmother, Nona Bolling Casada; and her brother, Jerry Michael Thompson.

Jennifer is survived by her husband, Matthew Price, of Christiansburg; mother Betty Martin; son, Seth Hackney (Hailey Leighton);  daughter, Anna Hackney (Tanner Brown); step-daughter, Amanda Tabor (Thomas Tabor); step-son, Chuck Price; sisters, Jodi Price, Renee Schack, Christy Dillon, and Ginger McGuinness; brother, Jamie Thompson; niece, Sydney Price; granddaughter, Ava Layne Taber; and special friend, Lisa Surface Shark. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as friends to cherish her memory.

“Jenni was a kind and beautiful soul; she was an inspiration to us all.  She was the one in the office to keep you on your toes, always with a smile, and if you heard laughter, you knew she had something to do with it,” added McAlexander. “There is going to be an emptiness in the office that no one can fill. There is only one Jenni. We will miss her dearly.”

A wreath was placed in Price's honor at War Memorial Chapel on July 30.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Push for Cure Relay for Life in Jennifer's memory.
