Audience members clap at opening ceremony of Tech Center's Building One — Those attending the Building One @ Tech Center opening included representatives from W.M. Jordan Company, Virginia Tech, ITA International, and Newport News city government.

Following remarks by Virginia Tech President Tim Sands, John Lawson, CEO of W.M. Jordan Company and a Virginia Tech alumnus, said his inspiration for the park was the Blacksburg-based Corporate Research Center. Lawson is a namesake of the university’s Myers-Lawson School of Construction. He and others are shown in this one-minute video from the opening of Building One @ Tech Center, future home of the Virginia Tech Newport News Center.
