This year marked the 25th anniversary of Virginia Tech’s Staff Appreciation Day, a day that was started in 1993 to recognize the dedication of the university’s more than 3,400 staff, including university and classified staff, non-student wage employees, and emergency hires.

Employees enjoy this year's Staff Appreciation Day held in Owens Hall.

Rain didn’t keep people away. Inside Owens Hall, employees enjoyed a barbeque lunch, competed at the ever-popular bingo and Fabulous Feud Team Competition, and played some giant versions of popular games. Not letting a little rain stop them, employees competed in a horseshoe tournament and played cornhole outside Owens; participated in T’ai Chi, BODYPUMP, and yoga in War Memorial Hall; and took tours all over campus, including The Grove, Lane Stadium, the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, the National Weather Service, and more.

Thank you to our staff for your service and dedication to our university. We appreciate the work you do each and every day. Visit the Staff Appreciation Day web site for a video and picture gallery from this year’s celebration.
