Virginia Tech Board of Visitors to meet Nov. 6 and 7
The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors will hold its quarterly board meeting at 1:15 p.m., Monday, Nov. 7, in the Board Room of Torgersen Hall (Room 2100) on the Blacksburg campus.
On Sunday, Nov. 6, the board’s Executive Committee will meet in closed session from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. in the Huckleberry Room at the Inn at Virginia Tech. From 12:30 to 4 p.m., an open information session will be held in the Solitude Room at the Inn at Virginia Tech. The Research Committee will then meet in open session from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. in the Duck Pond Room, also at the Inn at Virginia Tech.
On Monday, Nov. 7, the following committee sessions will be held at the Inn at Virginia Tech (unless otherwise noted):
- The Academic Affairs Committee will meet in closed session at 8:30 a.m. in the Drillfield Room, followed by an open session at 9 a.m. at the same location.
- The Buildings and Grounds Committee and the Student Affairs and Athletics Committee will depart from the Inn at Virginia Tech at 7:30 a.m. to tour of the Upper Quad residential facilities. Following the tour, the Building and Grounds Committee will meet in open session at 9:30 a.m. in the Solitude Room. At 11:30 a.m., the committee will meet jointly with the Finance and Audit Committee in open session in the Duck Pond Room.
- The Finance and Audit Committee will meet in closed session at 7:30 a.m. in the 1872 Salon and will meet in open session at 8:30 a.m. in the Duck Pond Room before joining the Buildings and Grounds Committee at 11:30 a.m.
- Following the tour of the Upper Quad residential facilities, the Student Affairs and Athletics Committee will tour Squires Student Center at 9:15 a.m. The committee will then meet in open session in the Solitude Room at 10:10 a.m.
During the two-day meeting, board members will receive a report on student recruitment and retention efforts focused on inclusiveness, collaboration, and innovation, and will consider resolutions on two new graduate-level degree programs and on the designation of the Virginia Tech-Arlington Center as an extended campus site where university courses can be taught.
