Blacksburg ranked among the 25 best places to retire

The Town of Blacksburg is among the country’s best places to retire, according to Forbes.com.
This is the third consecutive year that Blacksburg has been ranked as one of the 25 Best Places to Retire.
The ranking includes more than 500 cities nationwide. Ratings take into consideration financial and economic factors, as well physical security, accessibility to health care, and attributes that encourage an active retirement.
Forbes.com praised Blacksburg for its robust economy, walkability, and low crime rate rank, among other factors.
Home to Virginia Tech's main campus and about 44,000 residents, Blacksburg offers the charm of a small town combined with the modern conveniences of a metropolitan area. Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the community has many restaurants and stores, arts venues, historic attractions and museums, sporting events, outdoor recreation, and a temperate climate.
More than half of those who have retired from Virginia Tech since 1990 continue to live in the New River Valley.
This ranking is among the many the Town of Blacksburg and Virginia Tech have received that speaks to the quality of life that helps the university recruit and retain high-caliber faculty and staff.
