Timothy Duffy receives 2015 Pamplin College of Business Outstanding Senior Award
Timothy Duffy of Andover, Massachusetts, received Virginia Tech’s 2015 Pamplin College of Business Outstanding Senior Award.
Sponsored by the Virginia Tech Alumni Association and the senior class, the Outstanding Senior Award recognizes exceptional academic achievement and leadership by a graduating senior from each of the university’s eight colleges. Recipients have a minimum grade point average of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale and are selected by faculty and students within the respective colleges.
Duffy earned bachelor’s degrees in finance and accounting during the University Commencement ceremony Dec. 29 in Cassell Coliseum.
A member of the University Honors Program, he appeared on the dean’s list every semester. His memberships include Phi Beta Kappa, the Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Business Society, and the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society.
He was named the 2014 Virginia Tech Man of the Year and the 2012 Pi Kappa Phi Scholar of the Year.
He received numerous scholarships including the John T. Ryan Scholarship, L. Allen Bowman Scholarship, Presidential Alumni Scholarship, and the Joseph R. Jenkins Scholarship in Accounting.
Duffy served as the chief financial officer of BASIS, president of the Honors Residential College, and as a student leader with VT Engage. Additionally, he served as director of service for the Honors Residential College and as a student leader with VT Engage, participating in service projects such as Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life, The Big Event at Virginia Tech, and Head Start.
