Rachel Dorman named annual giving officer
Virginia Tech appointed Rachel Dorman as an annual giving officer in the Office of University Development.
Dorman said she was drawn to Virginia Tech based on its “world-class, loyal alumni and a reputation as an academic powerhouse in both research and teaching.”
“Becoming a part of the Hokie Nation is an exciting opportunity,” Dorman added. “The environment encourages success for students and employees. I look forward to working with individuals and industries to create relationships that support the future of the university.”
Dorman’s responsibilities include developing support for the annual giving program by meeting with current and prospective donors and promoting the overall fundraising efforts of the university.
“Rachel has a good understanding of fundraising,” said Randy Holden, Virginia Tech’s director of annual giving. “She brings a variety of beneficial skills and experiences to her new role, which will allow her to establish the philanthropic connections that help further the goals of the university.”
Dorman previously served as a grant coordinator at the University of Florida, where she helped manage two grants from the Department of Defense. Her duties included creating publications, developing curriculum, planning state training sessions, managing Extension agents’ applications of the grant, and data analysis. Before that, she worked as a graduate student through an awarded assistantship.
Dorman earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Florida.
