The Virginia Tech Alumni Association will host the second annual Ex Lapide Fall Reunion on the Blacksburg campus Oct. 24 through 26.

Ex Lapide is a Virginia Tech society for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and ally alumni, and the reunion is free and open to all LGBTQA alumni. Registration for the reunion is required.

Several events will be part of the weekend, including Virginia Tech’s 10th annual Gay in Appalachia Festival, which will showcase regional film-makers, theatre readings, and best-selling authors.

In addition, Greta Harris, a member of the Class of 1983, will be the keynote speaker during the Out at Work networking reception to be held on Friday, Oct. 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the Smith Career Center, located at 870 Washington Street SW. Earlier this year, Harris was honored as an Outstanding Virginian by Equality Virginia, a statewide, non-partisan education, outreach, and advocacy organization seeking equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Virginians.

"I loved my Virginia Tech experience and appreciate the opportunity to give back," Harris said. "The Out at Work event highlights the achievements of underrepresented alumni. Students will see Virginia Tech has prepared a diverse group of young minds for success."

The Out at Work networking reception is free and open to LGBTQA alumni and students. Registration is required before Thursday, Oct. 23.

The Virginia Tech Alumni Association keeps Hokie Nation connected through networking, services, and involvement. The alumni association has no membership dues and all alumni are members for life. Alumni chapters, reunions, homecomings, communication, advocacy, student engagement, and recognizing excellence among faculty, students, and alumni are hallmarks of our service to the university. The cornerstone of our core values is embodied by the university motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve).
