Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alumnus named Miami game Hokie Hero
Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alumnus 1st Lt. Scott Forsythe, U.S. Army who earned a degree in political science from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences as well as a minor in leadership studies from the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets Rice Center for Leader Development in 2011 has been selected as the Hokie Hero for the Miami game.
The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets Hokie Hero program started in 2006 by IMG College and sponsored by the University Bookstore, honors Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alumni who are currently deployed. Recipients of this honor are highlighted by Bill Roth and Mike Burnop during the radio broadcast of Virginia Tech football games, on the Corps of Cadets website and in the Corps Review magazine.
Forsythe is currently stationed at Forward Operating Base Airborne, Wardak Province, Afghanistan, as a member of the U.S. Army 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division where he is serving as an executive officer.
He is from Pittsburgh, Pa., and this is his first combat deployment. Forsythe is a Class of 2011 graduate of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and was the commander of Delta Company during his senior year.
Forsythe says he would like to send his love to his beautiful wife Christina, also a 2011 Corps of Cadets graduate who earned a degree in history from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences as well as a minor in leadership studies from the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets Rice Center for Leader Development and who served as the commander of Alpha Company her senior year. She is currently serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He also sends his love to his family and especially to all the other Hokies deployed around the world.
