Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alumnus named Marshall game Hokie Hero
Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alumnus Maj. John Kilareski, U.S. Air Force, who earned a degree in management from the Pamplin College of Business and a minor in leadership studies from the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets Rice Center for Leader Development in 1997 has been selected as the Hokie Hero for the Marshall game.
The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets Hokie Hero program started in 2006 by IMG College and sponsored by the University Bookstore, honors Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alumni who are currently deployed. Recipients of this honor are highlighted by Bill Roth and Mike Burnop during the radio broadcast of Virginia Tech football games, on the Corps of Cadets website and in the Corps Review magazine.
Kilareski is currently stationed at Air Forces Forward, Operations Division in Southwest Asia. He is from Woodbridge, Va., and this is his 11th combat deployment. Kilareski is a Class of 1997 graduate of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and served as the Drum Major of the regimental band, the Highty-Tighties, during his senior year.
Kilareski says he would like to send his love to his wife Carrie, his son Matt, and his daughter Sarah who were able to attend the game to celebrate both Corps Homecoming and Military Appreciation Day.
Carrie Kilareski is a graduate of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, Class of 1999, and earned a degree in mathematics from the College of Science as well as a minor in leadership studies from Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets Rice Center for Leader Development.
