Lend a hand to our fellow Virginians through annual Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign
The following is an open letter to Virginia Tech employees from Alan Grant, honorary chair of the 2012 Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign.
Dear Colleagues,
People sometimes think that they don’t know anyone who relies on a charity from time to time or that those in need live in a different neighborhood.
But the reality is that the people in need are often right next door.
You need only look at the many charities participating in the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign to see how many people around us need our help. If the list of more than 1,300 charities seems long, it’s because a lot of fellow Virginians could use a hand from time to time.
The easy-to-use online pledge system has a “learn more” icon where you can find out about the charities that serve others.
Among the many organizations that your contribution will help is the Central & Western Virginia Chapter of Alzheimer’s Association, which provides help and support to people and their families coping with the debilitating disease.
There is also the Floyd County Fire Department, an organization that helps individuals and families during times of emergency.
The Radford-Fairlawn Daily Bread is also an option for your contribution, which provides hot meals at no cost, five days a week, all year long. Their operation is largely volunteer-based, including the people who take hot meals to homebound people daily.
The list goes on.
Making a donation is simple with the campaign’s online pledge form. If everyone contributed the equivalent of the cost of one cup of coffee every two weeks, we would to exceed our goal of $300,000.
Please take a moment to learn about the many great impacts your donation will have.
And then take another moment to make a donation.
Thank you,
Alan Grant, Honorary Chair
