Crime Alert Update: Suspect in strong armed robbery turns self in
UPDATE 8 p.m. -- The suspect in today's strong armed robbery case, Evan L. Stump, has turned himself in to police.
Crime Alert: Strong armed robbery on University City Boulevard
5 p.m.--At approximately 12:16 p.m. today, Virginia Tech Police responded to the parking garage on Perry Street for a reported strong armed robbery that had just taken place. After questioning the victim, it was determined that the initial incident took place on University City Boulevard in the Town of Blacksburg, and then continued onto campus.
Blacksburg Police were contacted and a joint investigation began immediately.
The suspect, Evan L. Stump of Radford, Va., attempted to steal money from the victim he was acquainted with and a physical altercation ensued. The suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction. Stump is a white male, approximately five foot, ten inches in height, 175 pounds; brown hair, green eyes, 26 years of age, has mustache and light beard.
The victim was not injured, and an arrest warrant has been issued for Stump.
