Kassey Davidson

DVM Admissions and Recruitment Operations Specialist, Office of Academic Affairs

When did you join the veterinary college?
I joined VMCVM in February 2023.

What is your role at the veterinary college?
My role involves supporting the DVM admissions and recruitment operations.

My hidden talent...
My hidden talent?? I love to water ski! Some of my favorite memories are summer days spent on the lake with family — soaking up the sun, and enjoying time together.

A person who has inspired me...
How can I choose just one person? Each of them has shaped me in ways I can’t fully express:

My husband, Noah, has a heart of gold. He’s always willing to jump in and lend a hand to anyone who needs it.

My mom —she raised my sister and me on her own, and never let us see how tough it must have been. Now that I’m a mother myself, I can’t even imagine how she did it all.

My grandma, with her endless selflessness, is always there as a listening ear and a source of encouragement. She never fails to remind me how proud she is of me, and that support means the world.

What do you find most inspiring or fulfilling about working with students and helping them pursue their careers?
What I find most inspiring about working in admissions is getting to support prospective students at every stage of their journey— whether they're still in high school dreaming about becoming a veterinarian or making a major career change later in life. It's incredibly rewarding to witness their excitement before they even begin, to encourage them through the challenges of vet school (like stressing over exams), and then to celebrate with them at graduation. Being part of that journey from start to finish is truly fulfilling!

One misconception that all students seem to have is?
One misconception that many students seem to have is that the Academic Affairs office is just about policies and paperwork. In reality, we’re truly proud of and deeply invested in our DVM students. We have the unique privilege of watching you grow — from nervous first-years finding your footing, to confident fourth-years ready to step into the profession. Supporting you along that journey is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

Favorite way to end the day...
My favorite way to end the day is spending time with my little family — going on bike rides (thankfully, my husband pulls the kids in a stroller attached to his bike!), playing outside, or just relaxing together. I especially love watching my kids grow closer and become the best of friends.

My favorite quote...
"Don’t let the fear of failure be the reason you never try."

As part of our admissions team's work, we offer application reviews for candidates who weren’t initially successful. This particular quote was shared in an applicant's essay response on their application, “What is your life’s motto?” — and I’ve found myself coming back to it time and time again.

If you could communicate with animals for a day, what would you ask them?
If I could communicate with animals for a day, I think I’d ask them what their world looks like from their perspective.

How many pets/animals live at home? Can you tell us about them?
My son has a pet frog named Hop-Hop! On warm days, he loves to take him outside, pull him around the yard in a wagon, and chat with him as if he’s his best friend.
