Dr. Kathy Gaughan joins veterinary college's small animal community practice
Dr. Kathy Gaughan of Sedalia, Colo., has joined the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech as a clinical assistant professor of small animal clinical sciences.
Gaughan previously worked as an associate clinical professor in Auburn University’s Department of Clinical Sciences. Prior to joining the Auburn University faculty, she served as a clinical instructor and then an assistant professor of clinical sciences at Kansas State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital. She began her new position at the veterinary college on Sept. 1.
“Dr. Gaughan’s extensive clinical experience will be a welcome addition to the Small Animal Community Practice. Dr. Gaughan also has an interest and experience in animal behavior,” said Dr. Greg Daniel, head of the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences in the veterinary college. “With her help, we will be able to better serve our clients and improve animal health and welfare throughout the region.”
In her new role, Gaughan will support the Veterinary Teaching Hospital’s Small Animal Community Practice, which provides full-service out-patient preventative health care to local small animal clients within a 35-mile radius of Blacksburg. Services include vaccinations, parasite preventive programs, spay and neuter, dentistry, common clinical medical issues, and minor surgical procedures.
Gaughan earned a bachelor’s degree and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Kansas State University. The American Board of Veterinary Practitioners has awarded her Diplomate status for canine and feline practice.
