Pamplin Student Leadership Conference features various workshops
Representatives from Burts Bees, KPMG, Grant Thornton, Altria, and Virginia Asset Management will lead training sessions on decision making, flexible communication styles, ethical behavior, and other topics at a Pamplin College of Business student conference on leadership on Saturday, Nov. 5.
Organized by Pamplin students, the Pamplin Student Leadership Conference is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Inn at Virginia Tech. It is free and open to all Virginia Tech undergraduate and graduate students, who must apply by Monday, Oct. 17.
“Participants have the opportunity to learn from interactive workshops conducted by industry leaders, develop networking skills, and build their resumés with leadership education,” said Taylor Nurmi, a marketing senior from Fairfax, Va., who is helping to organize the event as a member of the student organization, Pamplin Leadership Development Team. “Students will enjoy refreshments, a complimentary full-course lunch, raffle prizes, and free gifts.”
Speakers will include Pamplin Dean Richard E. Sorensen and Burts Bees international brand manager and Pamplin alumna Julie Talbot. Talbot, who received a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 2004, will provide the keynote address.
The 13th annual conference is sponsored by Hilton, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, Geico, and Baker Tilly.
