The world-renowned Emerson String Quartet stands alone in the history of string quartets with an unparalleled list of achievements over three decades, including nine Grammy Awards, two of which they won for Best Classical Album, an unprecedented honor for a chamber music group. Established in 1976, the Emerson String Quartet, which derived its name from the American poet and philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson, features violinists Eugene Drucker and Philip Setzer, violist Lawrence Dutton, and cellist David Finckel.

The program for Jan. 28 includes Beethoven's "Quartet in C-Sharp Minor, Op. 131" and Schubert's "String Quartet in G Minor, D. 877."

Watch the Emerson String Quartet perform Dmitri Shostakovich's "String Quartet no. 3, III. allegro non troppo".
