Virginia Tech's Personal Touch Catering welcomes new executive chef senior
Virginia Tech Dining Services’ Personal Touch Catering has named Nazim Khan as its new executive chef senior.
Khan brings his years of experience and a unique culinary style to the award-winning catering operation.
Khan, who attended Georgia College in Atlanta, brings a variety of experiences from all corners of the food service industry. He began his career as a sushi chef in Sag Harbor, N.Y., and moved on to positions at various Marriott locations in New York, in addition to serving as sous chef at the Ritz-Carlton in Battery Park.
Khan most recently served as executive sous chef at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center. A joint project between Virginia Tech and the City of Roanoke, the hotel was built in 1882 and is designated as one of the prestigious Historic Hotels of America by the National Register of Historic Places. Khan’s responsibilities there involved helping with planning, ordering, creating new seasonal banquet menus, and coordinating kitchen production.
A winner of multiple awards and certificates from previous positions, such as Manager of the Year in 2008 from Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center, Khan is in progress toward a Certified Executive Chef accreditation from the American Culinary Federation.
