Extension, College of Natural Resources offer online course for Virginia landowners
Virginia Cooperative Extension and the Virginia Forest Landowner Education Program in Virginia Tech's College of Natural Resources provide Virginia landowners the opportunity to gain an understanding of basic forest management principles and techniques through an online course. Targeted to private landowners, the course will teach participants how to become better stewards of their land.
The 12-week “On-Line Woodland Options for Landowners” course, which runs from June 1 to Aug. 22, teaches basic management skills and techniques for both novice and veteran private forest landowners. Materials provided include reference books, CDs, and a DVD in addition to online reading materials and assignments. Professionals and experienced landowners will serve as mentors for the students and help with any questions via the course Group Discussion Board; participants may also attend an optional end-of-semester field trip.
The registration fee is $25 per family. Pre-registration is required by May 31. Participants must have access to a computer with a Web browser and an e-mail account; access to a printer is strongly recommended.
