'All Weather Ballads' visual theatre to be performed in Theatre 101 March 16
"All Weather Ballads," a visual theatre piece, will be performed Tuesday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Theater 101 on the campus of Virginia Tech as part of the One Night Stand series.
The performance is sponsored by the Department of Theatre and Cinema, a part of the School of Performing Arts and Cinema at Virginia Tech and is presented by Sandglass Theater.
“All Weather Ballads” incorporates original ballads by master puppeteer Eric Bass with music by Keith Murphy. The five-song cycle portrays the stages of life through metaphors. It is about a sense of place and those moments when we look both forward and backward in time. “All Weather Ballads” is a performance of dry humor, ironic poignancy, and elemental cursing.
Sandglass Theater is an internationally known theater company specializing in combining puppets with music, actors, and compelling imagery. Artistic Directors Eric Bass and Ines Zeller Bass founded this award-winning company in Munich, Germany in 1982. It has been, since its beginnings, a theater company dedicated to the use of the puppet as a primary theatrical medium, often using the puppet in combination with actors and collaborating with artists and composers.
The performance is free and open to the public on a first come, first served basis. Due to a limited seating capacity, the first 101 people to arrive will be seated. Doors open for seating at 7 pm. Call (540) 231-5200 for more information.
