Space still available in energy harvesting workshop
A few slots are still open for Virginia Tech's 5th annual energy harvesting workshop March 3 and 4 in Roanoke. Energy harvesting, also known as energy scavenging or power harvesting, refers to the capture of energy from sources such as sun and wind.
John T. Prater of the materials science division of the U.S. Army Research Office – an expert in polymers and semiconductor materials – is the keynote speaker.
The workshop includes sessions such as “Large scale mechanical energy harvesting from jet engine vibrations on ocean waves.”
The workshop is geared toward engineers, industrial researchers, companies using energy harvesting devices, and academic faculty and researchers. Cost is $499. To register, contact Holly Williams at (540) 231-2188, or register online.
The workshop will be held at the historic Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center, 110 Shenandoah Avenue, Roanoke, Va.
