Greek Week; it's about giving back to the community

This year nearly 3,000 students who serve as a member of a fraternity or sorority at Virginia Tech, will take part in Greek Week, April 19-27.

One of the highlights of the week includes a free, kickoff concert at 7 p.m., April 19 at Oak Lane, a community of houses for Virginia Tech fraternities and sororities. The concert will feature musical performer, Sam Thacker. This event is free and open to the public.

From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., April 21, visit the Greek Showcase located in the Squires Student Center, second floor, to learn more about the Greek organizations Virginia Tech offers.

A large part of Greek Week is dedicated to helping the surrounding community. This year all proceeds from the week-long celebration will benefit the Virginia Tech Relay for Life.

Greek Week was established as a means of promoting the positive aspects of the Virginia Tech Fraternity and Sorority Life organizations. These groups help build a sense of unity and spirit among the university community and raise thousands of dollars annually to support various philanthropic endeavors.

Greek Week is sponsored by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, a department within the Division of Student Affairs.
