Tracy Peery has been hired as division director of human resources for the Advancement Division effective June 4.

Following a nationwide search, Peery joins Virginia Tech from Emory & Henry University, where she most recently served as assistant vice president for risk management and human resources.

Tracy will jointly report to Rhonda Arsenault, senior associate vice president and chief operating officer for Advancement, and Curtis Mabry, associate vice president for HR consulting and strategic services in the Division of Human Resources.

“With more than 20 years of human resources experience, Tracy will be a wonderful addition to our division director cohort,” said Bryan Garey, vice president for human resources. “Our division directors are an important part of enabling our university’s colleges and departments to succeed by providing world-class, strategic HR leadership and partnership. We are pleased to welcome Tracy to Hokie Nation.”

In her role, Peery will partner with Advancement leadership to enhance onboarding, recruiting, employee engagement, talent development, and other HR-related programs for the Advancement team.

“We are excited to have Tracy join us and lead our human resources team in Advancement,” said Arsenault. “Her experience in all areas of HR, including employee relations, benefits administration, data analytics, organizational development, and more, will help us continue to grow and develop our talented team, build our talent pipeline, and position the Advancement team for continued success in fundraising, engagement, and marketing and communications for Virginia Tech.”

Prior to her assistant vice president role at Emory & Henry, Peery served as director of HR at Emory & Henry and HR manager at Hutchinson Sealing Systems. She holds a MBA from King College and a master’s degree in management and leadership from Liberty University.
