Forum to offer discussions on alcohol-influenced behavior
On Thursday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m., the Town Gown Community Relations Committee will host an event designed to bring together members of the Virginia Tech and Blacksburg communities to discuss information about alcohol-influenced behavior, both on and off campus. The forum will be held in the Town Council Chambers of the Blacksburg Municipal Building.
The purpose of the forum is to discuss alcohol-related student behavior, both on- and off-campus and to explain the roles various town and university agencies and departments play. The event will feature brief presentations by representatives from the Blacksburg Police Department, Virginia Tech Police Department, Virginia ABC, Judicial Affairs, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and the Campus Alcohol Abuse Prevention Center regarding how each agency or department interfaces with such behavior and carries out its responsibilities. Judicial Affairs, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and the Campus Alcohol Abuse Prevention Center are each departments within the Division of Student Affairs.
Following the presentations, the floor will open for questions, comments, and suggestions from the audience. Students, faculty, staff, neighborhood association members, landlords, property managers, and interested members of the community are encouraged to attend.
