University Cycling Team presents Tech Cross
The Virginia Tech Cycling Team, in partnership with Rogues Racing, is taking on cyclocross racing as they present Tech Cross, the two-day Virginia Cyclocross Series.
Clif Bar, Holiday Inn University, Vitaminwater, SOS, SpeedMoore Racing, and East Coasters Bike Shop, in conjunction with Virginia Tech Recreational Sports, are sponsoring Tech Cross on from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 and 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16. The cycling race is open to participants, spectators, and supporters.
Tech Cross will be held at the Virginia Tech Recreational Sports Fields. Saturday night races will begin at dusk and include grilling out and a live band.
Tech Cross will include nine United States Cycling Federation categories including masters, junior, women, three category men’s fields, and three collegiate only fields. Each race will range from 30 minutes to an hour in length. “The Virginia Tech Cycling Team is one of 29 club sport teams that are part of the Virginia Tech Department of Recreational Sports. We are very active in our regional conference, the Atlantic Coast Collegiate Cycling Conference, and at a national level. The club won the conference road title numerous times and have produced national champions. We participate in road, mountain and cyclocross disciplines, and continue to be competitive in each of these year after year. This week we will be giving back with a cyclocross race open to the collegiate and non-collegiate race communities. This will be a great chance to see the team at its best while we fundraise for another successful season,” states Reid Beloni, president of the cycling club.
Pre-registration is available online. On-site registration will be available for an additional $10 late fee, an hour before racing and closes 20 minutes before each field starts. For more information on the Virginia Tech Cycling team or the Tech Cross race and registration cost online.
