Bikers, start your engines for a motorcycle tour of Virginia's lost communities
The Virginia Tech Community Design Assistance Center, in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies, is hosting the second annual Lost Tour of Virginia—a motorcycle tour through picturesque communities and winding roads in Tazewell County—on Saturday, July 12, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Proceeds from the event will help fund the publication of a book about the history of these and other Virginia communities, Lost Communities of Virginia.
Bikers will check-in from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the Crab Orchard Museum at 3663 Crab Orchard Road, just off of US 460, in Tazewell. From 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., participants can enjoy a breakfast during a presentation of highlights along the route by Terri Fisher, co-author of Lost Communities of Virginia and Community Design Assistance Center Outreach Coordinator. Event safety tips will be presented by Brennan Shepard. Riders will depart at staggered intervals between 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Between 4:30 and 6 p.m., riders will return from riding to bid in a silent auction and judge motorcycles. From 6 to 8 p.m., dinner is served along with musical entertainment by The Saturday Night Band. The evening concludes with door prizes, raffles, auction results, and ride prizes.
Pre-registration is encouraged and is $35 per rider and $10 per passenger, and includes breakfast and a program/route map; dinner, and musical entertainment is $15 per person; and t-shirts are $18.
