Several donors recognized for their commitments to The Campaign for Virginia Tech: Invent the Future
Virginia Tech President Charles Steger highlighted the importance of philanthropy in the university's plans for growth and improvement at a 3 p.m. press conference on the eve of the launch of the public phase of The Campaign for Virginia Tech: Invent the Future.
Several donors who have committed more than $10 million each to the campaign during its quiet phase appeared alongside Steger to discuss the importance of what will be the university’s most ambitious fundraising campaign. The event highlighted the contributions of those donors, along with their lifelong commitment to the university. At the event, Steger also announced an anonymous pledge of more than $10 million to encourage the planning of a new geosciences building.
Virginia Tech’s last capital campaign concluded in 1998 after raising $337 million. The significantly higher goal for the new campaign will be announced Saturday night at the official campaign launch.
