Facts and figures for 2006 Commencement
3,534 undergraduate candidates received diplomas in the university's Spring 2006 Commencement.
Facts about the event:
-- Marks Virginia Tech's 134th commencement year (26th Northern Virginia Center commencement ceremony).
-- The class of 2006 will join the ranks of more than 185,000 living alumni from every state and more than 100 countries.
-- Total Virginia Tech graduates from the 2005-06 academic year, (including December graduates), includes 5,148 undergraduates (3,590 spring, 1,558 fall) and 2,054 graduates (1,235 spring, 819 fall).
-- 1,235 graduate students, with the following degrees: 914 master’s degrees, 214 doctorate degrees, 21 advanced graduate degrees, 1 education specialist degree, and 85 Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degrees.

- Agriculture and Life Sciences -- 302 (of these, 26 students will receive associate's degrees)

Northern Virginia Commencement ceremony:
-- 1 p.m. Sunday, May 14, at the George Mason University Center for the Arts in Fairfax, Va.
-- Keynote speaker: Donald M. Norris, president of Strategic Initiatives, Inc.
-- Ceremony to honor 150 degree candidates.
