Engineering Technology Showcase will reveal new tools for engineering technology

The Student Technology Council (STC) at Virginia Tech is hosting the Engineering Technology Showcase on Thursday, March 30 to demonstrate and advocate the use of cutting edge technology for students and faculty. The event, which allows vendors to exhibit technologies that will equip engineers of the future, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Banquet Room of Owens Hall.

The Engineering Technology Showcase will feature companies that offer the latest in technical gadgets. Participating vendors include Autodesk, Accordent, Apple Computer, AMD, CDWG, Dell, Fujitsu, Gateway, GTCO Calcomp, Inc., Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, MathWorks, Toshiba, Microsoft, and National Instruments. Showcase participants will have the opportunity to enter raffles and win high-tech prizes.

Faculty and staff from Virginia Tech and Radford University will make presentations throughout the showcase on a wide variety of technology-related topics, including “Tablet PCs in Engineering Education”, “Tablet PCs Initiative at Radford University”, “Labview”, “Solar Decathlon”, “Podcasting”, “Computer Security”, “Arm Muscles”, “Wearable Computing”, “System X”.

In addition, many of the latest engineering student design projects will be on display at the showcase. Refreshments for exhibitors and participants are sponsored by Gateway, Toshiba, and Ronald A. Williams, LTD of Autodesk.

The Student Technology Council is a team of Virginia Tech students that review hardware and software in Beta testing, assist with freshman orientation, and sponsor this annual technology showcase.
